Description of Executive Branch
Executive power is formally executed by the Grand Duke and in practice by the Government, which he appoints based on the leader of the winning party of the legislative elections. The Government is composed according to the results of these elections. Usually, none of the parties win an absolute majority and coalition governments are the norm. Formally, the Grand Duke appoints and revokes ministers; in practice though, he only appoints the Prime minister, who gets to choose the members of his cabinet.
Description of Legislative Branch
Represented by Parliament (Chamber of Deputies), the Government and the Council of State, which all interact to create its legal framework. Parliament and Government both have the right to elaborate and propose new legislation. The consultation of the Council of State is mandatory.
